A cure for mobile living; A tablet for the future.

'So Geek...!' It's a common comment I hear. But for once it wasn't meant to be derogatory, to be a childish put down by the low-tech herd. The crowd cheers! Progress!

I was playing with phones and having a conversation about where we, and they could go. Postulating a little. A colleague who is desperately trying to free himself from the constraints of thelo-fi (aww, bless him!)seemed intrigued, and asked one question. "What else are they going to do?".

An open question, slightly ambiguous, but it got us chatting more!

I think we are definitely heading towards device convergence.. it makes sense... But I personally think it will reach a point where for some time we have 2 devices before tech allows us to move to a single device to allow for different media uses... small browsing and mobile comms, one for movies and reading. Both with the capability to do either... but based on screen size and most importantly... Feel. Ergonomics and habit have a huge effect.

Apple may be demonstrating this with the iPhone and the new 'tablet idea... and mMicrosoft... well, they're trying!

I think as soon as we reach a point where we can enough processing power, have full comms, ample storage / cloud storage, high enough levels of security and integrated wireless charging we will see it. It's still a while away (5 yrs maybe...)
